Allenbuild Commences £9.3m Brent Affordable Housing Scheme


The construction of the £9.3m project in Brent will provide:

· Affordable homes, and

· employment and skills training opportunities for people within the local community.

The design and build contract comprises, the site clearance of a former garage and petrol filling station, construction of a 53-unit residential development with ground floor commercial units and basement car parking facilities.

The project will be constructed on a stepped site bounded by two arterial roads. The six-storey scheme will provide a mix of one and two-bed apartments for rent.

The upper floors will be stepped back to create a tiered elevation to Burnt Oak Broadway, with a series of private and communal balconies. The art deco style design features two glazed staircases at either end of the building, which will incorporate vertical sheets of glass.

Along with the majority of Allenbuild's affordable housing projects, the building has been designed to achieve a "Very Good" EcoHomes standard.

The project is programmed for completion in January 2011.
