Description

This development consists of a part refurbishment and a part new build residential block of 104 units, together with a community centre.

In addition to the familiar problems of central London construction on a very tight site, the scheme also features a 5-storey Victorian façade retention requiring a substantial steel frame to support it and this frame required piled foundations, which had to be installed before the demolition commenced using a specialist mini-piling rig operating in the basement of the existing building. Behind the façade retention the new structure is concrete framed and constructing this against the retained façade and within the confined site required the use of a crane with minimal over sail and a carefully planned construction sequence.

The contract is part of a long-term strategic alliance with One Housing Group which has been in operation for the past 7 years. The project includes a number of green issues including a roof garden.
